HCB Group launches in South Africa

HCB Group has launched into South Africa, extending its services to the country from its headquarters in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.

First launched in 1984, the Oxfordshire-based firm provides employee health, wellness and claims management services to employers, intermediaries, insurers and pension scheme trustees.

Jim Harris, managing director of HCB Group, (pictured) said: “I am so delighted to announce the launch of HCB South Africa, following closely on our launch of HCB Australia earlier on this year.

“HCB is determined to share its significant knowledge and expertise in the field of early intervention and
employee health management.

“We look forward to working with disability insurers in South Africa to support the overall claims effort and to use our expertise to enhance South African claims management support services to the ultimate advantage of employees, employers and insurers.

“From a very personal perspective, establishing an HCB presence in Africa has special meaning.
Having been born and raised in Zimbabwe, it warms my heart to be able to do something meaningful
to help improve lives and circumstances to the people living on the continent of my birth”.

Dr Christoffel Grobler, chief medical officer of HCB South Africa, added: “It is no secret that I have long been promoting the idea that work is good for a person and that extended periods away from work may result in unnecessary disability with dire consequences for the individual involved.

“Hence, when Jim suggested that he wanted to establish HCB in South Africa as well, I was over the moon, as I have long been aware of the fantastic work they are doing in the UK and Ireland.”
