ActiveQuote: private healthcare policy sales hit record high

Sales of private healthcare policies have hit an all-time high according to ActiveQuote, which has reported its highest number of sales in its history.

The comparison website and protection broker revealed the number of policies sold rose by 89% in March compared to the previous year, with enquiries up by a fifth in the same period (21%).

Commenting on the data, Rod Jones, head of partnerships at ActiveQuote, said: “We have reached an unprecedented level of sales in private healthcare policies here at ActiveQuote, driven largely by a newer generation of customer coming to market for the first time.

“Private healthcare providers have been quick to adapt and develop their product offering in response to a generally younger, possibly more budget conscious, consumer who simply wants to know their healthcare needs are covered bearing the current climate in mind.

“Around 90% of policies sold today are to customers who have never had private health insurance before, and that’s a huge statistic,” Jones added.

ActiveQuote further revealed it has been providing customers access to advice through the development of a new algorithmic model called Rubee.

The model awards a score to every enquiry, which informs the order and frequency of the follow-up contact strategy enabling ActiveQuote advisers to give customers with the highest intent to purchase the right information, guidance and support quicker and those who are just browsing, space to consider their options.

“Just as insurers have been adapting their own products to cope with the growing demands around private healthcare in the UK, ActiveQuote been focusing on enhancing the way it is able to support customers at a time when they have in many ways never needed it more,” Jones added.
