Almost half of Americans want employer mandated vaccinations – LifeWorks

More than four in 10 Americans want mandated vaccination policies implemented by their employer, according to LifeWorks’ latest monthly Mental Health Index.

The survey of 5,000 Americans conducted between the end of June and mid-July found 44% of respondents wanted mandated vaccination policies implemented by their employer.

This compared with 40% who did not want employer-mandated vaccination policies – leaving 16% who were uncertain.

The index posted an overall mental-health score of -3.8 compared to the pre-pandemic benchmark, but this was the highest point since April 2020.

The survey also found women were 35% more likely than men to report that their organisation’s culture did not support their personal wellbeing.

And women were 50% more likely than men to want to work from home to avoid tension or conflict with co-workers.

However, there was and an even split of people who wanted to work from home full-time to prioritise personal wellbeing, with 36% percent of women said they did compared to 35% of men.

LifeWorks global leader and senior vice president of research and total wellbeing Paula Allen, said: “Despite many workplaces preparing to return to in-person operations, many employees across the country are stressed about their safety at the office.

“Organisations now have a critical responsibility to evaluate their reopening approach and communicate safety guidelines to employees effectively and thoroughly, understanding that employees’ physical and mental health are closely connected and need to be prioritised equally.”
