Aviva CEO Amanda Blanc made a dame in New Year Honours

Amanda Blanc has been made a dame in this year’s New Year Honours.

The Aviva CEO was appointed dame commander of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to business, to gender equality and to net zero.

Blanc (pictured) was appointed Aviva’s CEO back in July 2020 succeeding Maurice Tulloch who stepped down for health reasons and having previously served as an independent non-executive director at Aviva plc.

She was appointed to the Aviva board in January 2020 and chaired the customer, conduct and reputation board committee.

A former CEO for EMEA and global banking partnerships at Zurich Insurance Group, Blanc was also previously group CEO at Axa UK, PPP and Ireland and served as chairwoman of the Association of British Insurers and president of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Aviva has been contacted for comment about Blanc’s award but said they had nothing to add.
