Aviva is extending its menopause support services to individual and SME private medical insurance (PMI) customers from today.
It will now be available to more than 675,000 additional customers and their family members following this extension of cover to individual and SME customers.
The service provides individuals and group members with access to menopause‑trained healthcare professionals and is available to anyone aged 16 or over who is covered under an Aviva policy, including partners and family members.
It allows up to six 30‑minute consultations with a menopause trained nurse, allowing patients to discuss symptoms, lifestyle changes and treatment options in detail.
Where further medical input is required, the nurse can, if clinically appropriate, refer the patient to a GP with specific expertise in menopause for up to two additional extended consultations, tailored to their specific needs.
Customers can also seek general guidance from any GP on the app whenever they need to.
The menopause support also includes a symptom assessment tool for people who think they may have symptoms of menopause.
This generates a personalised report with tailored guidance, as well as an online information hub providing practical advice and support to help manage menopause symptoms.
It can also provide fit notes or open referrals where needed, at no additional cost and offers additional support for employers through its menopause hub, which includes online resources designed to help organisations better understand menopause so that they can make appropriate workplace adjustments.
The added-value service is available to new and existing customers who have registered for Aviva Digital GP which is provided by Square Health and is a non-contractual benefit Aviva could change or withdraw at any time.
Dr Subashini M, medical director of Aviva UK Health, said: “Access to specialist menopause support can make a real difference to people’s health, confidence and everyday working lives.
“By extending our menopause services to individual and SME customers, we’re enabling more people to access timely expert guidance and feel supported through what can be a challenging life stage.”
