Aviva updates online renewal services for group protection advisers

Aviva has issued an update to its group protection online platform Aviva Group Protection Online (AGPOL) to enable intermediaries to self-serve renewals for group protection policies for up to 250 lives.

According to the insurer, the update reduces the average time it takes to renew a policy from up to five days to around 30 minutes.

Aviva added the changes were based on intermediary feedback and forms part of a continued commitment to support intermediary partners to better serve small and medium enterprise (SME) clients.

The changes ensure the renewal process is completed within a new section in AGPOL called policy maintenance. Intermediaries can see all the Aviva schemes they have on risk with three to 250 lives, which schemes are due for renewal and which renewals are in progress.

Improved search functionality means intermediaries can search for clients across wider criteria such as policy number, company name or scheme anniversary date. The account will lock once the renewal process has started so the intermediary will become the only user who can update the process. Users can save their progress during the renewal if they need to get more member data and return to process the renewal at another time.

The changes also include a simplified process for updating policy members, with the option to add or remove them manually if there are fewer than 20 members. For schemes with more than 20 members, intermediaries can use a drag and drop Excel template.

Aviva claims in most cases advisers will now receive their renewal documentation via email within 30 minutes of setting up a renewal.

Access to the AGPOL platform has also changed meaning intermediaries logging in or registering for Aviva’s adviser site to generate quotes and renew policies, now benefit from single sign on access and can serve clients with other Aviva products from one place, if appropriate.

Jason Ellis, distribution director, group protection at Aviva, said: “I am delighted that we are offering faster processing of SME renewals and that advisers can now have in-the-moment views of their clients.

“The changes are part of our broader ambition to be the easiest Group Protection insurer for advisers to work with.”
