Benenden Health has appointed Andy McClure as its chief commercial officer, responsible for commercial strategy.
McClure (pictured) previously held positions as marketing and propositions director for Axa Health, managing director for Marsh UK and Ireland and chief marketing officer, Europe for AIG.
Before that he was with Zurich for more than 11 years, leaving as chief marketing officer for the Middle East in 2013.
He was also part of the member advisory board for the International Federation of Health Plans and earlier this year was an independent strategic adviser.
In his new role, McClure will be responsible for driving the strategic commercial goals for the benefit of Benenden Health’s 870,000 members, as well as joining the society’s senior executive team and reporting to the CEO.
Commenting on his new role, McClure said: “Benenden Health has carved a unique space for itself in the market.
“It does so at a crucial time, when the NHS needs support with waitlists, and patients need quicker access to care.
“I’m excited to be joining Benenden Health to help deliver propositions that bring high-quality affordable healthcare to the nation.”
Tom Woolgrove, CEO at Benenden Health, said: “Benenden Health’s commercial team is responsible for crucial services; from product and service development to B2B sales and timely and impactful marketing that inspires current, and prospective members, to engage with their health.
“Andy has a wealth of experience in these areas, as well as in the wider insurance industry, that we are excited to introduce to the team.
“On behalf of everyone at Benenden Health, we welcome Andy to the team and look forward to seeing his impact on our members and colleagues alike.”
