Benenden Health supported its members’ health and wellbeing needs 180,451 times in 2024, up 4.2% (173,079) on 2023.
The not-for-profit healthcare provider further revealed that the number of appointments booked for its GP 24/7 service rose 12% (56,000 calls) from 2023.
Physiotherapy appointments increased by 3% year-on-year (20,000 calls) and calls to its 24/7 mental health helpline rose by 1% (11,700 calls).
The findings follow Benenden Health’s research into the population’s attitude towards private healthcare, which found 86% of respondents were concerned about current NHS wait times.
The healthcare provider also found that a quarter (24%) of respondents said the current state of the NHS has increased the likelihood of them purchasing private healthcare.
Tom Woolgrove, CEO of Benenden Health, (pictured) said: “Benenden Health has modernised itself in recent years and carved out a distinctive position within UK healthcare. Seeing our members benefit and take charge of their health is the great win, though, and I’m proud to see the recognition from our membership, whether it be from individuals and families or a corporate business that looks after the health and wellbeing of its employees.
“In 2025, we will deliver a new policy platform that will enable further product and proposition flexibility and continue to support our member’s health.”
