Canada Life adds Toothfairy dental app to group protection offerings

Canada Life is offering the Toothfairy a dental care app to all group protection customers.

The app has been created by two dentists and uses patent-pending technology to solve a number of common issues including accessibility, availability, and affordability of dental care.

Employees will have unlimited access to a round the clock chat function which connects them directly to a dentist and signposting to clinical referrals.

The app’s core operating hours are 9am to 8pm and response times may vary outside core operating hours.

Members will also receive virtual assessments, advice, and obtain any prescriptions they need for urgent issues and routine checks, as well a 10% discount on cosmetic dentistry such as teeth straightening and teeth whitening.

While the app is available on all Canada Life group protection products, as a non-contractual benefit provided through Canada Life, it can be altered or withdrawn at any time.

Dan Crook, protection sales director at Canada Life, (pictured) said he was pleased with the latest partnership and believed it significantly enhanced the insurer’s overall proposition.

“Access to dental care was strained during the pandemic with many people unable to receive the care that they needed,” he said.

“The innovative technology that Toothfairy offers delivers practical and useful solutions to everyday dental issues, that will in no doubt decrease the estimated one million days missed off work each year for dentistry related appointments.

“We are always working hard to bring employers products and services which help to reduce absenteeism and presenteeism in the workplace.”

Dr Deepak Aulak, co-founder of Toothfairy, noted that over the last year around six million adults in the UK had long-lasting pain of over two weeks caused by toothache.
