Canada Life rolls out virtual support to GIP customers and their families

Canada Life group income protection customers and their families will get access to online GP consultations, second medical opinion services, smoking cessation support, mental health support through its WeCare virtual support package.

Available to CLASS customers since November 2020. WeCare, which is accessed via an employee app, will now be available to employees and their family members, whether or not they are insured under a policy.

The service also includes life event counselling, burnout prevention, diet support and fitness plans.

The rollout comes as WeCare announces enhancements in the form of the addition of legal and financial wellbeing support.

Canada Life says its roll out reflects the changing way employees now access these services. More than half of those working from home (57 per cent) used a support services during the first lockdown. This has increased to 58 per cent during the current lockdown.

Research from the provider shows over the last year 44 per cent of the UK population have had at least one virtual medical appointment.

Canada Life protection sales director Dan Crook says: “This launch means that over 450,000 employees and their families will now have access to our extensive range of health and wellbeing services.

“We have focused on making the app as straightforward as possible as we know that’s what people want. By concentrating on quality not quantity, we have added some much-needed simplicity to accessing vital services which can transform lives.”

He adds: “Knowing the toll that has been inflicted on society over the last year and the uncertain future ahead of us, we felt it was essential to build legal and financial support into the WeCare services. Ultimately, we want our services to be useful and supportive if the worst should happen, but we also want to help people improve their daily wellbeing.”
