Centene Corporation has appointed Jim Murray as chief transformation officer following its acquisition of fellow US healthcare provider Magellan Health.
Centene also owns a 40% stake in UK private hospital network Circle Health and has bought several GP practices.
Murray (pictured) was previously the president and chief operating officer for Magellan Health, which Centene acquired earlier this week.
He will lead the firm’s value creation office and advanced behavioural health division, reporting to vice chairman Sarah London.
In his previous Murray he oversaw Magellan’s behavioural and specialty health, and complete care business segments.
Before joining Magellan, he was president of PrimeWest Health, a Dallas-based company which supports physician shift to value-based care and chief executive officer of LifeCare HealthPartners, a Dallas-based hospital system.
He is also a former executive vice president and chief operating officer at Humana.
London said: “Jim brings a wealth of experience and unique background in both managed care and the delivery side of healthcare, and he is well positioned to lead our transformation efforts as part of our value creation plan we announced in June.”
