CII appoints international vice presidents

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has appointed Enas Asiri and Suresh Nair as vice presidents (international).

The pair will support the international work of the CII, strengthening the member experience of those based outside the UK, as well developing the range of products and services to build public trust in the insurance and financial planning professions in markets across the world.

Chartered insurer Asiri joined Bahrain National Life Assurance (BNL) in September 2017 and is a long-standing member of the CII – becoming a fellow (FCII) in 2015.

Before joining BNL, she was the head of the life and medical operations at the Arab Insurance Group (ARIG), where she initially started her career in insurance in 2007, as part of its graduate development programme.

In addition to her responsibilities in risk management and business development, Asiri also delivered insurance training courses at the Bahrain Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (BIBF).

She holds board memberships in the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA), IAssist Middle East, and Health360 Ancillary Services WLL and is a member of the Finance, Insurance and Tax Committee of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Suresh Nair has been in the insurance industry for over three decades. He is currently executive director at Gargash Insurance Services based in Dubai. Nair started his insurance career at the National Insurance Company in India, before moving to the Oman National Insurance Company in Muscat and then relocating to Dubai.

Also a fellow of the CII, Nair holds an MBA, as well as a fellowship with the Insurance Institute of India. He has regularly contributed to thought leadership articles on insurance and risk management in the trade press, and presented papers at conferences and seminars in insurance. He has also operated as a Goodwill Ambassador for the CII in recent years.

Nair said: “Like so many other insurance and financial service professionals, I hold the CII and what it stands for in the highest regard. It will therefore be an honour to be affiliated with and serve as the vice president (international) of the CII.

“I look forward to working closely with the CII team, the international institutes affiliated with the CII, and the CII membership.”

Asiri added: “I am proud to be appointed as a vice president (International) of the Chartered Insurance Institute. The CII played a pivotal role in shaping my professional development and career advancement.

“I am looking forward to contributing to such a distinguished establishment and elevating the voice of international members.”

In addition to being global ambassadors for international members of the CII, the duo will share chairing the International Affiliated Institute Forum (IAIF) which acts as a mechanism for the CII to consult its global Affiliated Institute network.
