ClimatePartner to help Shepherds Friendly hit carbon neutral target

Shepherds Friendly has joined forces with ClimatePartner to help the friendly society work towards meeting its objective of becoming carbon neutral by the end of 2024.

ClimatePartner will work closely with Shepherds Friendly to assess its carbon emissions then offer advice on how it can reduce or offset this value.

Ann-Marie O’Dea, chief executive officer at Shepherds Friendly, said: “Our ambition to become a more sustainable business is very much aligned to our core purpose as a mutual, of ensuring that we are there to provide benefit to everyone.

“It is important that how we perform as a business fits our values of working together for and with our members, doing the right thing and making a difference to all of society.

“As such, our goal is to be a carbon neutral business within the next three years and forms part of our commitment to becoming a sustainable organisation. That is why this alliance with ClimatePartner is important to us to help us better understand the carbon emissions related to our business and to help shape how we operate into the future.”

Oliver Allcock, commercial sustainability manager at ClimatePartner, added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Shepherds Friendly to deliver its goal to be carbon neutral. Climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing our modern society.

“We help companies take ambitious climate action by providing them with an opportunity to measure, reduce and offset their unavoidable carbon emissions.”
