Countrywide Assured owner appoints CEO from Royal London

Steve Murray is to succeed John Deane as group CEO at life and pensions consolidator Chesnara, parent company of insurer Countrywide Assured, upon Deane’s retirement at the end of the year.

Murray, has been appointed executive director of Chesnara and Countrywide Assured and will become Chesnara group CEO upon regulatory approval.

Chesnara operates as Countrywide Assured in the UK.

He joins from Royal London where he was group chief commercial officer and led the insurer’s group corporate development activity including mergers and acquisitions, group strategy and operational efficiency.

His other previous roles include deputy head of private markets in Aberdeen Standard Investments and group strategy and corporate finance director, CEO of 1825 financial planning and managing director for commercial and strategy for Standard Life UK and Europe.
