Gain appoints neurodiverse insurance professional as general manager

Group for Autism, Insurance and Neurodiversity (Gain) has appointed Vic Mazonas as general manager.

The industry pressure group launched last year with the goal of unlocking the true potential of neurodiverse individuals and giving them opportunities in the insurance industry.

Gain’s founder members from the industry include Marsh McLennan, Swiss Re, Zurich, Principal, Aviva,  UnderwriteMe and the Association of British Insurers, who joined this week.

A neurodiverse individual herself, Mazonas was previously a technical accountant at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and before that an insurance technician at Xchanging.

“I am beyond delighted to announce my new role as general manager at GAIN (Group for Autism, Insurance, Investment and Neurodiversity),” Mazonas (pictured) said.

“As an autistic person, I’ve experienced first-hand many of the struggles that are all too common for people like myself, both in and out of work. I also recognise how fortunate I’ve been to have many opportunities in recent years that helped me beat the odds and establish a level of career and home stability that allows me to thrive.

“Gain’s goals are so closely aligned with my own, and I’ve been an enthusiastic supporter of their aims from early on. They have ambitious ideals and their corporate launch this year is timely, as neurodiversity is finally entering the public consciousness.

“I look forward to working with the Gain team, and hopefully many of you, over the next year.”
