Guardian head of marketing Rachael Welsh departs for Bequest – exclusive

Rachael Welsh, one of the launch team of Guardian three years ago, is leaving her role as head of marketing to join insurer Bequest as head of partnerships and marketing.

Welsh (pictured) took on the role of marketing manager of Guardian Financial Services in October 2017 ahead of its launch the following year.

She subsequently stepped-up to head of marketing to replace Jacqui Gillies who was promoted to marketing and propositions director at Guardian.

Welsh previously spent more than six years working in the protection sector at insurer Bright Grey, which was part of Royal London, as a marketing consultant from 2007 to the end of 2013.

She has also worked at mobile phone giant EE and marketing agency Tangible.

Commenting on Welsh’s departure, Gillies told Health & Protection: “During her time at Guardian, Rachael has been the driving force behind many of our campaigns and the ‘architect and designer’ of some of our most memorable events.

“Now, over four years on, she’s decided it’s time to take another step up to a new challenge. We’re sad that she’s leaving us, but delighted for her that she’s moving to an exciting new opportunity.

“I’ve started the recruitment for Rachael’s successor and will look forward to announcing that in due course.”
