HCML promotes trio in leadership team

HCML has promoted Debbie Downham to director of group clinical governance, Kate Barton to head of personal injury service development and Steve Barker to head of personal injury operations.

Downham is now responsible for all aspects of clinical governance and clinical risk management across the HCML Group. A registered general nurse, she has been with Healthcare RM, part of the HCML Group, since 2005.

She initially joined as an occupational health adviser, becoming head of case management in 2014 before being promoted to director of clinical governance in 2018 and now HCML director of group clinical governance.

Due to growth in its personal injury department, HCML has also appointed Kate Barton to head of personal injury service development and Steve Barker to head of personal Injury operations.

A paramedic by background with a degree in pharmacology, Barton has been with HCML for eight years having joined initially as a rehabilitation case manager in personal injury and more recently as the clinical operations manager and operational lead for amputee and brain Injury services.

Barker is an occupational therapist by background and has managed wards in a variety of areas and has been operationally responsible for outpatient service.

Prior to his promotion, he was a specialist rehabilitation case manager at HCML, specifically supporting those who have experienced brain injury and major limb amputation.
