Police Mutual has reached an agreement with healthcare trust provider, Healix, to offer an extended healthcare claims service and support to its healthcare scheme members and their families.
The financial and wellbeing support services provider said the wider collaboration is in response to the growing knowledge and understanding of the benefits of private health cover and claims for employees within the Police Mutual network, especially in regard to routine check-ups and investigatory procedures.
The organisations have already worked together for many years, with Healix offering support and guidance on a consultative basis, advising on individual cases and using the clinical expertise within the Healix team to offer clear pathways of resolution to Police Mutual members.
During the tender process, Police Mutual said it felt the flexibility, expertise, and shared ethos of putting the member at the centre of the experience was what made Healix stand out from the crowd.
The group added it has also seen a steady increase in the number of complex claims being made by its members.
Traditionally claims such as hip and knee replacements were most common, yet since Covid-19, cases involving mental health, cardiac conditions, and prostate cancer are becoming more frequent.

Kerry McMahon White, managing director of Police Mutual, said: “It is great to have Healix on board as our healthcare claims provider.
“We have worked with the team for many years and have always been incredibly impressed by their industry expertise and clinical knowledge.
“At Police Mutual we are dedicated to supporting our members and their families, and by bringing on a trusted partner like Healix we can continue to offer the very best in health cover and always be ahead of the curve.”
Ian Talbot, CEO of Healix, (pictured) said: “We are proud to become the full-time healthcare claims provider for Police Mutual.
“We have been working with the team for many years and have seen first-hand how seriously they take member care, an approach that very much fits our ethos and values.”
“We know Police Mutual has seen a steep rise in complex claims and variety of claims over the past few years, and our team of support staff and clinical experts are perfectly placed to help guide both the Police Mutual team and their members who are part of the scheme through this journey.”
