H&P Protection Adviser Research: Fears over consumer cost of living concerns rise

Fears about the rising cost of living straining consumer budgets are increasing among advisers in the individual protection market.

Health & Protection’s exclusive research conducted among more than 200 advisers operating in the UK individual protection market revealed the issue dominated advisers’ business challenges.

The survey explores key adviser experiences, sentiment and future expectations.

Subjects covered include the overall state of the market, expectations for short-term demand, customer buying habits and pressing industry concerns.

Overall sentiment remained largely positive about short term market prospects and was only slightly softer than a year earlier.

However, the cost of living reducing customer budgets ranked far above all others in terms of the biggest challenges for the market.

These concerns increased further from the previous year, rising seven percentage points to 79%, highlighting that financial situations are still tough for many consumers.

Advisers also revealed how consumer buying habits were changing as a result of the wider economic circumstances.
