Hyundai Motor India extends Covid cover to employee’s family members

Hyundai Motor India has extended vaccination and insurance cover to family members of its employees and organised an inhouse camp to vaccinate workers.

The motor firm revealed it has organised an inhouse camp to drive vaccinations with support from hospitals and has now started a drive for employees and dependants.

It has two manufacturing plants in Tamil Nadu and resumed plant operations at the end of last month, with the measures part of an array of benefits introduced for staff as the pandemic overwhelmed the subcontinent.

This includes paid leave for those with a confirmed Covid diagnosis or exhibiting symptoms, an interest free loan of up to 3 lakhs (£2,911) to cover Covid related expenses and additional death benefits for the families of deceased employees.

Self monitoring health kits are available for factory workers, with Covid awareness sessions conducted by the firm’s inhouse chief medical officer and compulsory Covid tests for all new recruits.

Stephen Sundhakar, senior vice president and unit head of people strategy and business support at Hyundai Motor India, said: “As the country continues to respond to Covid-19, we are working to do our part by ensuring the safety and the wellbeing of our employees.

“We are closely monitoring the pandemic situation in the state and supporting the communities for an early recovery. We remain hopeful and confident that together, we can overcome the crisis, and will continue to play our part in the solidarity to fight Covid-19.”
