Income Protection Task Force releases film marking 7Families 10 year anniversary

The Income Protection Task Force (IPTF) has released a film to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the 7Families project.

The 7Families project which ran between 2014 and 2016 followed the lives of seven families who had suffered an income shock but had no income protection in place. The project, which was equally funded by insurers across the industry, provided payments to the families that replicated what they would have received if they had income protection and also provided access to a range of value-added services.

As part of the project, the families were filmed regularly over the year resulting in a series of video case studies documenting the impact of the payments and services received. The video case studies remain free for advisers to use and can be found on the IPTF website (iptf.co.uk)

This latest 45 minute film sees the IPTF highlight the lessons learned from the 7Families and the ways in which advisers can integrate these lessons and the stories of the families within their advice process. As well as featuring reflections and commentary from the current cohort of 7Advisers, the film also includes commentary from industry figures and a call to action from the IPTF Executive for advisers to explore and use the content as much as possible.

The film, eligible for 45 minutes unstructured CPD, is hosted on the IPTF YouTube channel and can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/q2C21wqOqJs

IPTF co-chairman Andrew Wibberley (pictured) said: “Although we’re celebrating the ten-year anniversary of 7Families, the issues faced by the families still resonate today.

“7Families was the first time our industry saw collaboration on such a scale, and changed the way we work in many cases.

“Our very real hope is that the industry will get behind this film in highlighting the impact of income protection and the good work that we are all involved in so that ultimately more people are protected meaning they don’t have to go through what these 7 Families did.”
