Independence Blue Cross appoints first executive director of health equity

Pennsylvanian health insurer Independence Blue Cross has appointed Dr Seun Ross as its first executive director of health equity.

In her new role, Ross (pictured) will help develop and implement strategies to ensure equitable whole health.

She will work under executive vice president of facilitated health networks and chief medical officer Richard Snyder, and vice president of quality management Victor Caraballo.

Ross joins from InGenesis where she was chief nursing officer and senior vice president of managed service provider operations.

In this role, she was responsible for more than 200 employees as well as strategic planning, performance excellence and quality, and executive oversight of health care programmes.

Ross also held leadership positions at the American Nurses Association, AL Health Services, MedStar Harbor Hospital, and the United States Naval Academy-Brigade Medical Unit.

Commenting on Ross’s appointment, Snyder said: “Dr Ross brings extensive health care experience and a broad understanding of health equity, both of which are vital to Independence’s long-range efforts to address health disparities for our members, our providers, and the wider community.”
