Katy Davies returns to Hanbury Wealth

Katy Davies is returning to Hanbury Wealth as a protection adviser.

Back in August last year, Health & Protection revealed Davies (pictured) was joining London-based private client firm Henry Dannell as specialist protection adviser.

Davies first joined  Bishops Stortford-based Hanbury Wealth as a protection specialist in 2021. Prior to that she became a a mortgage broker at ClearView Mortgages, having switched over from a career as a personal trainer.

Speaking to Health & Protection about her return to Hanbury Wealth, Davies said she had first joined the company after completing CeMAP exams at ClearView and being offered an opportunity by a Hanbury Wealth directors.

“We grew the desk almost from scratch, and – as most protection advisers would describe – I fell into the industry. But here I found my passion for protection,” Davies said.

“A few years in, I was headhunted to work in London. Being in my 20s and keen to scratch that itch, I did.

“The experience has taught me a lot, and I really got to finesse my protection skills here, I feel, working with different client demographics and in a more sales-focused way – as you would expect from a private client firm in the city.

“I feel I grew a lot there, but personal circumstances brought me closer to home, and I missed the long-term client relationships you develop and nurture through wealth management.”

Touching on her new role, Davies revealed it will see her continue to focus on protection, ranging from personal protection and inheritance tax cover to private medical insurance and business protection, while continuing to advise families, company directors, retirees, entrepreneurs, and “everyone in between”.

“As this progresses, I will work closely with the advisers here to learn skills in the investment and pension advice space with the ultimate aim of being able to give holistic financial advice and hopefully find my own niche within that,” Davies continued.

“I will be able to nurture long-term relationships with clients to serve their ever-evolving financial objectives.

“With a few exams left to go, I am looking forward to broadening my horizons and finding my place in the world of financial advice.

“I imagine protection will always be at the core of what I do, and I am proud to say that’s where it all started.”
