Medicash launches two new health apps for corporate policyholders

Medicash had today launched two new AI-driven health apps for corporate policyholders, HealthLens and Eargym.

The new apps will be available to all existing policyholders on a company funded Medicash health plan from March.

HealthLens

HealthLens offers employees a fast, non-invasive way to monitor key health indicators by using their smartphone camera.

Powered by transdermal optical imaging, it scans facial blood flow to detect blood pressure, heart rate, cardiovascular disease risk, stroke risk and more.

By providing users with an indicative health score and monthly scans, HealthLens helps identify health risks early and enables employees to track changes over time.

Eargym

And Earygym helps to protect against hearing loss, which can affect one in six adults – though often overlooked in corporate wellbeing strategies.

Eargym offers employees comprehensive hearing assessments and training programmes, all available from home through their smartphone. It focuses on enhancing key hearing and cognitive skills to strengthen auditory processing.

Research indicates that such training can improve understanding of speech in noisy environments by up to 25%.

Medicash also announced changes to its Medicash Proactive health plan for new companies joining from 1 March 2025.

It said that through efficiencies, Medicash is enhancing its industry-leading Proactive health plan for new groups, without increasing premiums.

Apart from the two new digital benefits, new corporate groups will also get increased cover levels for optical, dental and complementary therapies benefits.

Medicash already has existing similar partnerships with Phio, a clinically-led digital physiotherapy assessment app, the mProve Yoursef health and wellbeing app. and SkinVision, an app that can identify skin cancer.

In December Health & Protection reported that Medicash had successfully identified its 1,000th clinically validated case of skin cancer among Medicash policyholders since launching the partnership in 2020.

New ways

Sue Weir, CEO of Medicash, said: “From launching the first claims app in 2014, to introducing our skin cancer screening service nearly five years ago, we never stop looking for new ways to improve our plans.

“As part of this drive, we are delighted to introduce these innovative new benefits to our corporate policyholders.

“By integrating advanced digital tools like HealthLens and Eargym into our corporate health plans, we are empowering employees to take more control over their health and wellbeing.

“These enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive, accessible and forward-thinking health solutions.”

Simon Spurr, managing director of Alula Health, (the company behind VivaScore which in turn powers HealthLens), said: “By integrating VivaScore into the Medicash app and plan offering, we’re providing policyholders with a hyper-personalised wellness experience that goes beyond covering healthcare costs.

“This partnership allows policyholders to better understand their unique health needs and take actionable steps toward improved well-being, driving better engagement and ultimately promoting long-term health and resilience.

“We are thrilled to partner with a respected leader like Medicash to create a meaningful impact on both employee and policyholder health.”
