Amber Musson-Thorp leaving her position as group commercial director for Lifecare to take on a position as an independent consultant in the healthcare and insurance market – though she will also continue the insurance broking element under the Lifecare brand.
Musson-Thorp (pictured) told Health & Protection: “I will be staying in Qatar. My remit could be anywhere but I will naturally have a specialisation in the Middle East and Africa because obviously that is my expertise here.”
She said she will remain in her current role until April.
Musson-Thorp started at Lifecare International more than four years ago, based in Qatar. Her roles there included general manager for Qatar and group commercial director for Qatar, the UAE and Kenya.
Prior to Lifecare, Musson-Thorp was at Aetna for seven years, leaving as director for SME in Europe, a role she held for four years from 2016 to 2020.
Prior to that Musson-Thorp held roles at Aviva, Axa and Vitality.
Musson-Thorp said via LinkedIn: “After an incredible journey as country manager and then group commercial director for Lifecare I’m stepping into a new chapter as an independent consultant.
“The Middle East and Africa has such a fascinating landscape for innovation and growth and this new role will allow me the time to focus on what I am passionate about in a healthcare and insurance consulting role, as well as continue the insurance broking element of the business under the Lifecare brand.
“This transition is an exciting next step in my career, allowing me to build something while maintaining the flexibility to work across multiple jurisdictions.
“It’s an opportunity to leverage my experience in new ways, collaborate with a diverse range of clients, and continue making an impact on a global scale.
“Qatar is such a special place for me, both personally and professionally.
“I’m so very proud of what we’ve achieved in the last four years, I’ve had the privilege of leading the Qatar business to the next level with the help of an amazing team and an innovative business.
“While this transition marks the end of one chapter, it’s also the beginning of something new—an opportunity to take on fresh challenges, and continue making an impact in the healthcare and insurance space.”
