National Friendly launches entry-level diagnostics-based healthcare plan

National Friendly is launching an entry-level healthcare product which has no medical questions or underwriting.

The Friendly Health plan is designed to help provide a diagnosis of a new medical condition that starts after the policy is opened and does not cover pre-existing or chronic medical conditions.

Premiums start at £4.15 a week and will be reviewed annually on an overall experience basis.

There are three cover levels: bronze, silver and gold, providing a cash amount to contribute to consultations, scans and tests – members can decrease their cover level at a policy anniversary but cannot increase their
cover level at any time.

A range of unlimited benefits including 24/7 virtual GP access, online dentist and dietitian access are also included.

It is open to those aged 18-60 years old who are living in the UK and have been registered with a UK GP for the past two years.

Health and wellbeing services included in the policy are available seven days after the policy start date, however emergency dental treatment included within Gold policies is only available after 12 months.

Home testing kits can be purchased for £79 when not included on plans.

Members must contact the insurer to make a claim for a consultation, test or scan to find out if something is wrong, so it can manage the process.

Exclusions include follow-up consultations, screening or monitoring, tests or treatment once a diagnosis has been made; claims for pregnancy-related issues; and developmental diagnosis such as ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, dyslexia or dyspraxia.

Graham Singleton, CEO at National Friendly, (pictured) said the plan was designed to be easy for advisers to recommend and for clients to understand.

”There are no medical questions, no underwriting, and no barriers, just straightforward access to everyday health support that everyone can benefit from,” he said.

”This is through proactive healthcare access to health check-ups and preventative support, with a reassuring cash pot for consultation, scans and tests if clients’ health changes.

”Our research shows people want affordable, practical healthcare options that fit modern lifestyles, and Friendly Health delivers exactly that.”
