Sports goods supplier Nike has given staff at its Oregon corporate headquarters a week off to support their mental health.
Taking to LinkedIn to confirm the move, Matt Marazzo, senior manager for global marketing science at Nike, said the US firm’s headquarters had closed for a week so staff can prioritise their mental health.
While Marazzo described the last year as “rough”, he said he was hopeful that the empathy and grace teammates have continued to be shown will have a positive impact on the culture of work moving forward.
Marazzo added that the firm’s leaders were sending out a clear message: “Take the time to unwind, destress and spend time with your loved ones. Do not work”.
