OneFamily hires head of data strategy ahead of ‘significant growth’ period

The OneFamily Group has appointed Jose Cruz da Angela as head of data strategy to support its OneFamily and Beagle Street brands.

The protection insurer said he will be responsible for driving forward the mutual’s data strategy as it enters a period of “significant growth”.

Last month the provider said Beagle Street would be entering the intermediary space in 2025.

Experienced in shaping the future of organisations through the design and scalable delivery of data and AI strategies, da Angela previously worked as the director of analytics at Chill Insurance and as client partner at 4most Analytics Consulting.

He has worked with Beagle Street, now part of the OneFamily Group, back when it was owned by BGL Insurance. In his role as associate director of pricing, data and business intelligence da Angela set up Beagle Street’s retail pricing, data science and BI capabilities.

Working closely with protection director, Ryan Griffin and distribution director, Holly Ewing, appointed in July, he will support all areas of the business in leveraging data and analytics to build better products and services for customers; further strengthening the growth of the business.

Da Angela said: “The potential to leverage OneFamily’s data capability, together with an ambitious roadmap ahead, makes this a unique, and very exciting time to join OneFamily.

“We can drive substantial customer and commercial impact through an empowered, commercially focused data capability, underpinned by robust governance and analytical best practice.

“OneFamily’s values; being socially active and economically responsible – together with a vibrant, inclusive culture, very much resonate with my own values and ethos.”

Griffin added: “I’m pleased to welcome Jose to the team. His extensive experience in this sphere will be essential during a period of significant growth for the OneFamily Group.”
