Paul Andrews, director of Omny Benefits, said: “We’re delighted to be joining the Protection Distribution Group. As part of Omny Group, protection is an important part of how we support businesses and individuals with their financial security. Being part of PDG gives us a great opportunity to collaborate with other specialists, share insight and continue raising awareness of the important role protection plays.”
Meg Kirby MBE joins Johnny Timpson as a PDG ambassador.
Her charity LegaCare, has helped more than 5,000 terminally ill people in the north east of England since 2010. They offer free legal advice and support to critical ill people and their families when they need help the most.
Kirby said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been asked to become an ambassador for the Protection Distributors Group. The work PDG is doing to build greater trust within the insurance industry is incredibly important, and its vision of an industry driven by empathy, honesty and transparency strongly reflects the values that I believe should sit at the heart of protection advice.
“Through my work at LegaCare, I have a unique insight into the real impact that protection has on individuals and families, particularly when it comes to navigating claims and ensuring people receive the support they need when it matters most.
“As an ambassador, I hope to contribute by sharing the practical knowledge and insights gained from working with the seriously ill and going forward, more closely with advisers. I am particularly passionate about initiatives that increase access to protection for those who may otherwise struggle to obtain it.”
Timpson added: “With the FCA’s Pure Protection Market Study team sharing the PDG’s long held commitment to improving life, critical illness and income insurance claimants experience and support with this aided by greater trust, beneficiary nomination, expression of wish, LPA and Will uptake, Meg brings significant technical and lived experience to the PDG board and will be pivotal in further aiding our work with the FCA to improve consumer outcomes.”
