Reducing absence in the workplace to keep your small business growing – Bupa

Bupa will be launching a new virtual event for small businesses on Reducing absence in the workplace to keep your small business growing as part of the Workplace Health and Wellbeing Academy.

You can sign up to the event here.

Hosted by award winning entrepreneur and former Dragons’ Den investor, Piers Linney, the event will explore how small businesses can manage and prevent absence effectively and the critical role that health and wellbeing support can play to minimise absence.

During the session our panel of experts including Richard Norris, Director of small businesses at Bupa and Jo Mackie an employment lawyer at Slater & Gordon, will discuss the key drivers of absence in the workplace, how to manage it and the legal risks associated with not taking appropriate action.

With musculoskeletal issues (MSK) accounting for over a quarter of Bupa claims and leading to substantial absence in the UK, Bupa’s Dr Andrea Killick will discuss how employers can support the MSK health of their employees to prevent the risk of re-occurring absences.

Lastly, Rupert Carter, a small business owner and Bupa customer will share what wellbeing initiatives have worked well to improve employee wellbeing and pro-actively reduce absence.
