Training tools and pledges a key part of Income Protection Awareness Week – IPTF

Katie Crook-Davies, co-chairwoman of the Income Protection Task Force (IPTF)

The IPTF’s Income Protection Awareness Week (IPAW) is running next week from Monday October 17.

Daily webinars will run at midday covering a range of topics related to income protection (IP) insurance and aimed at advisers who want to write more IP business.

Monday kicks off the week and will shine a spotlight on the impact IP can have, through claimants’ stories.

Mortgage advisers will be the focus for Tuesday’s session, and we’ll hear from industry experts on how IP can be best positioned as part of the mortgage conversation.

Wealth Wednesday returns the following day with the theme – ‘write it or refer it’ and will highlight the IP needs of business owners.

Thursday is all about growth – how advisers can grow their business using IP and tap into new and underserved markets.

And the Friday Finale will see us round up the top tips from the week, review the pledges that have been made, celebrate the great work already being done and turn inspiration into a practical to do list.

Training library

There will be IP materials released throughout the week and tangible hints and tips to support advice conversations.

And keep an eye out for provider events which will be running alongside IPAW and a brand-new library of training material which will be appearing on the IPTF website in the form of a Provider Academy.

It will certainly be difficult to avoid IP during the 17 – 21 October, which we think is no bad thing.

Pledges and register

We’re also asking the industry for pledges again this year – a pledge to do something new or different which you think will genuinely help to grow the IP market.

Pledges should be specific, time-based and measurable.

As an adviser, could you commit to a certain number of IP conversations each week, or to revisit existing clients within a certain timeframe?

We know that everyone is busy, now even more so, but what better time to have a conversation with clients about protecting the income that is becoming increasingly important?

Share your pledge on Linkedin or Twitter, we would love to see some videos, and tag the IPTF so we don’t miss a thing.

You can register for each of the days you want to attend via the IPTF website, and if you join the IPTF mailing list you’ll receive regular updates before, during and after IPAW.

The daily sessions are free to attend, so please share with your adviser colleagues who want to protect more incomes and grow their businesses.

Health & Protection will also be covering the events throughout the week.

We look forward to seeing you there.
