UnderwriteMe drops Covid question from application process

Teladoc Health guide, Long Covid

UnderwriteMe has removed its question about a recent diagnosis or symptoms of Covid from the customer application process on its protection platform.

The firm said the move was in response to its monitoring of publicly accessible data on Covid-19 and the disclosure experience through its Protection Platform customer application process.

It added that the removal of free testing in the UK was also a determining factor.

UnderwriteMe senior development underwriter Pete Martin said: “With the significant progress in the UK vaccination programme and the impact this has had on hospitalisation cases and deaths we felt it was the right time to work with all our insurer partners and remove the recent infections and symptoms underwriting question.

“While it was UnderwriteMe’s ambition to remove this question it would not be possible without the full engagement and support of its UK insurer partnership base and everyone working towards a common goal of improving access to insurance and ensuring more customers can obtain cover immediately.”
