Unum extends Help@hand access to large group life and CI schemes

Employee benefits provider Unum has extended access to its health and wellbeing app Help@hand to large group life and critical illness schemes at no cost, meaning all workplace schemes now have access to the service.

The app was already available to all the insurer’s group income protection customer and last year Unum extended the service to life and critical illness customers with 250 or fewer employees to support smaller businesses which may have been struggling under lockdowns.

Eligible employers also now have access to the Help@hand insights report, providing anonymised insight into the usage patterns of their employee benefits services by enabling them to identify key workforce trends including use by health issue, number of sessions used, gender, age and time of appointment.

Help@hand provides employees with access to five support services via its app including unlimited remote GP appointments available 24/7 and mental health support and physiotherapy from qualified professionals, which are directly accessible through the app and without signposting or triage.

Unum added that a sixth service is being integrated into the app next month. This will allow users to access Unum’s wellbeing calendar and its year-round support from podcasts, webinars and awareness dates all targeted at improving overall health and wellbeing.
