Unum has revealed that 95.1% of employees who used its claims and rehabilitation service remained in work or were able to return to work afterwards.
The provider reported 1,711 referrals to its rehabilitation service for a range of conditions and 12,107 Help@hand appointments.
And there was a 97% increase in queries for its mental health pathway in 2020 compared to 2019.
Overall Unum said 2020 was its most successful year yet in terms of people it helped to either to stay in or return to work via its rehabilitation service.
And the provider added it had seen a year-on-year increase in the rehabilitation rate between 2016 and 2020.
The percentage of people who were helped to remain in or returned to work was 89% in 2016, 91% in 2017, 93.7% in 2018 and 94.8% in 2019.
The insurer also said more than 15,000 people attended its wellbeing courses last year.

“Helping employers as well as employees means we’ve been able to address pandemic-related concerns in the round, which we feel has achieved better outcomes for all Unum policyholders and their employees during what was a very difficult year for everyone.”
