Unum UK appoints chief information and digital officer from Aegon UK

Unum UK has appointed Lio Lopez-Welsch as chief information and digital officer.

Lopez-Welsch (pictured) who joins from Aegon UK where he was CIO, will also sit on Unum UK’s executive committee and will be instrumental in driving technological transformation across the business.

Before Aegon, Lopez-Welsch’s experience included senior roles at Investec Wealth & Investment (UK), Accenture and the London Stock Exchange.

His background has focused on wealth management, capital markets and pension and investment platforms.

For almost three years while he was at Aegon, he was a non-executive director for TISA Exchange, a not-for-profit organisation that works with the industry to facilitate electronic transfers between firms that hold assets on behalf of investors.

His remit will be to continue to evolve Unum UK’s digital proposition and support the business’ continued growth as it seeks to increase the number of customers protected in the workplace.
