WPA extends LifeStage Health to SMEs

WPA has added LifeStage Health to its SME product Precision Corporate Healthcare.

Following a successful rollout to the large corporate market it will now be made available to companies with 10 or more employees.

The insurer said it had seen strong demand from customers and insurance intermediaries for the move.

The service can be inclued as a standalone option or added to the health insurance or cash plan scheme and is available with a choice of LifeStage fund levels.

LifeStage Health has been designed to facilitate treatment pathways for a range of conditions such as fertility, menopause and sexual health, for everyone regardless of their gender identity, WPA added.

Sharon Shier, head of product development at WPA, said: “Insurers spend much time pricing the risk of unknown events yet there are many conditions that we know will happen that are not traditionally covered by health insurers.”

She added that 79% of health insurance policies are purchased by companies wanting all of their employees to be even more effective and this was addressing those things we know will happen at various stages of our lifetimes.

“LifeStage is also supporting corporate inclusion strategies promoting understanding of female and male health as well as retaining talent for their whole career, whatever the interruption,” she continued.

“Such diversity ignites creativity, problem-solving, and innovation.”

Debra Clark, head of specialist consulting at Towergate, said: “It is important for all businesses, regardless of their size, to support their people’s wellbeing

“It is well reported that this is good for business, but it is also the right thing to do.

“WPA’s Lifestage Health can help, with support for the known natural stages of people’s lives where changes in the body can impact both physical and mental wellbeing.”

Lauren Chiren, CEO of Women of a Certain Stage, added: “LifeStage Health is raising awareness of female issues, correcting unconscious bias and breaking down the workplace taboos around these issues.

“WPA is helping companies make a commitment to all female employees, that life’s natural challenges can be supported and helped; indeed this is a proposition that will be equally valued by companies and women.”
