WPA is extending its musculoskeletal (MSK) pathway option to SME and retail customers.
The not-for-profit insurer explained the move is designed to provide customers with faster access to treatment, helping prevent minor issues from escalating into more painful conditions and ultimately enhancing the patient’s recovery.
WPA’s physio pathway aims to provide options to simplify their decision-making process and help them get treatment quickly.
The physio pathway is a choice and does not affect WPA’s freedom to choose philosophy.
The pathway is supported by Ascenti and Nuffield Hospitals and aims to ensure that customers have access to top-tier MSK care, wherever they are in the country.
A key benefit of the physio pathway in giving customers up to five sessions of face-to-face or virtual care, is that it eliminates the need for a GP referral, while also preserving customers’ therapy benefit limits, no claims discount where applicable, and excess or shared responsibility options.
Sharon Shier, head of retail and commercial at WPA, said: “Whether at home or work, a bad back is a real pain.
“We want to smooth the process for customers by helping them identify a provider and assist in booking appointments.
“Pathways, which are crucial to our customers’ quality of life, underline our wellbeing strategy to promote prevention and enable early intervention.
“All a customer needs to do is call WPA, and we will set them on the road to diagnosis and recovery.
“With immediate access to a physio, this initiative will enhance access to treatment and assist with booking appointments, further extending what we can do for our customers.”
