Romana Abdin, the chief executive of Simplyhealth, is to step down from the role after seven years at the helm.
A spokesperson for the healthcare provider confirmed that Abdin (pictured) will step down in 2021 and a search for her successor is already underway.
A transition period will begin once a new chief executive has been appointed, the spokesperson said.
Abdin has been chief executive of the Simplyhealth Group since 2013, having originally joined as executive director, corporate affairs in 2001.
She began her career as a barrister in London specialising in corporate and commercial law and has also held roles at Lloyds Banking Group and Bradford & Bingley Building Society.
She is currently a non-executive director ofd Doctor Care Anywhere, the mobile and virtual telehealth provider.
Abdin said: “After seven years, now is the right moment for me to pass the baton to a new leader. The transformation work we have done has given us strong foundations, not only to weather the storm this year but to invest in our future as a hub for healthcare services. The business is financially strong and our purpose – improving access to healthcare – could not be more relevant as we approach our 150th birthday.
“A big thank you to all my colleagues for their incredible support and hard work during my time as steward of this great company. It has been an honour to work with such a talented, passionate group of people.”
