The crucial role that workplace mental health plays in national social and economic wellbeing was recognised this week at this year’s World Economic Forum (WEF).

Typically held at Davos in Switzerland, the WEF this year is being hosted on a virtual basis as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

A notable feature on this year’s agenda was a session called ‘Prioritizing Workplace Mental Health’, giving further indication that global financial and economic leaders and thinkers are taking on board the message of the health and protection industries in different continents.

From working in isolation to balancing work alongside caring responsibilities, the impact of COVID-19 has turned mental health into a top concern for employers around the world.

The session – available to download here – featured senior figures in different fields who shared their perspective on the global implications of the COVID-19 crisis and the road ahead.

Speakers included: Sir Philip Campbell, editor-in-chief, Springer Nature; Garen K Staglin, chairman and co-founder, One Mind; Punit Renjen, global CEO, Deloitte; and Miranda Wolpert, director, mental health, Wellcome Trust.
