Gavin Royston has been appointed as associate director at Smith & Williamson, in a move which signals the firm’s intention’s to grow its presence in the benefits consulting space.

Royston joins Smith & Williamson’s Employee Benefit Consulting team to spearhead its future development in the expatriate and international benefit market.

He joins from Globality Health, the specialist international medical insurer, where he was UK sales director.

Prior to Globality Health, Royston was based in Hong Kong with William Russell, the international healthcare provider.

A spokesperson for Smith & Williamson said that the appointment is “strategically important” for the business due to its plans to “greatly expand” in this area.

He added that as the economy moves into the post-Covid landscape, alongside the implementation of Brexit, UK firms will need to look at new market and supporting them with international benefit consulting expertise will be “key” to future growth.

Barrie Brown, director at Smith & Williamson – Employee Benefits, said: “We are delighted to welcome Gavin to the team and greatly look forward to his contribution to further success. His appointment cements our strength of expertise, and positions us well for continued growth.”

Royston said: “Smith & Williamson’s outstanding leadership and excellent reputation among its clients impressed me, and I am deeply proud to be able to join the team and build on its success in the coming years.”
