PRIMIS figures support claims that demand for protection advice is soaring

PRIMIS Mortgage Network – the financial adviser group – this week said that queries about income protection products covering multiple and complex medical conditions were partly behind an 18% surge in requests to its product desk.

The figures follow statistics from Zurich which said that enquiries about protection in general to financial advisers it deals with leapt by about a third in recent months largely, it believes, as a result of the pandemic.

The figures from PRIMIS show that its product desk, which assists brokers in all key areas of the market, resolved a total of 2,462 inbound queries from Appointed Representative (AR) advisers in January.

A spokesperson for PRIMIS said this marks a record month for the network’s product desk. It means there was an 18% increase on the monthly average seen during 2020 (2,083) as advisers continued to operate during the UK-wide lockdown.

Queries from lenders for adverse credit borrowers, lenders accepting self-employed borrowers who have used the government’s Self-Employment Income Support Scheme, cases regarding second or holiday homes, lenders accepting borrowers with furloughed income and solutions for Right-to-Buy borrowers all came across the product desk.
