Sabrina Lane is to succeed Nicky Bray as chief underwriter for Zurich Life upon her retirement this autumn.

Bray (pictured), chief underwriter for the past 13 years, joined Zurich as senior underwriting developer back in September 2008 after three years with Friends Provident as an underwriting strategy manager.

Her 38-year career in insurance has also seen her hold underwriting roles at NatWest Life and Mercantile & General Re.

She will be succeeded by Lane on 3 September, who has been with the company since the start of 2024, having joined from Aviva where she was an underwriting manager.

Louise Colley, director of retail protection at Zurich UK, said: “Nicky has made an exceptional contribution to Zurich, playing a key role in strengthening our underwriting capabilities and supporting the wider insurance industry through her leadership and collaboration across the market. We thank her for her dedication and service and wish her every happiness in retirement.

“As part of a planned succession process, Sabrina Lane will succeed Nicky as chief underwriter. Sabrina has already made a significant impact in the role and is well placed to build on Nicky’s strong legacy and support Zurich’s future ambitions.”
