Protection industry representatives Johnny Timpson and Kevin Carr were among the winners recognised at the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)’s Public Trust Awards today.

Industry stalwart and independent consultant Timpson (pictured) picked up the Building Public Trust Consumer Champion Award for his consistent commitment to educating consumers about insurance and financial planning matters.

Carr, who is chief executive of the Protection Review, won the Building Public Trust in Life, Pensions and Long-term Savings Award for action he has taken that resulted in increased trust in the profession.

The full list of winners announced today at a virtual ceremony, led by CII president Julie Page, included:

  • The Consumer Inclusivity Initiative Award to St James’s Place Wealth Management.
  • The Building Public Trust in Insurance Award was given to Claire Talbot-Jones.
  • The Building Public Trust Consumer Marketing and Awareness Award was won by Dubai-based Oman Insurance Company.
  • The Talent Attraction Initiative of the Year Award went to the African-Caribbean Insurance Network.
  • Honorary fellowships were awarded to Dr Wang He, previously vice president of People’s Insurance Company China, and Jane Portas for her involvement in the Insuring Women’s Futures initiative.
  • Presidents Awards were presented to Callum Beaton and Grant Scott, for their significant contribution to the work of the CII over many years.

Congratulating the winners, Page said: “One of the very pleasurable duties of a CII President is to celebrate the efforts made by members and organisations across our profession to increase confidence and trust.

“Congratulations to the individuals and organisations who have shone so brightly and received a Public Trust Award during these challenging times.”
