Vitality UK has made a pair of senior personnel moves affecting its life business after the departure of group chief finance officer (CFO) Michael Saunders.
Justin Skinner, who was appointed managing director (MD) of VitalityLife in April, has replaced Saunders as group CFO.
As a result, Justin Taurog has taken on the position of managing director of VitalityLife in addition to his present role as role as managing director of VitalityInvest.
Taurog (pictured) has worked at Vitality for more than 13 years, is a qualified actuary with extensive experience in the insurance industry and helped develop the provider’s serious illness cover proposition.
The insurer told Health & Protection the moves were part of its succession planning and ensuring it had highly experienced people in senior roles.
“Vitality prides itself in having great people and we seek to develop and move people to different roles across the business, expanding skills and developing people across the organisation continuously,” it said.
“As such, upon the departure of our CFO, the business sought to appoint a strong candidate into the role and naturally looked internally, with Justin Skinner both well placed and with the relevant skills to undertake the role.
“Vitality was therefore also pleased to appoint Justin Taurog to the role of MD for life – who brings extensive experience of Vitality and knowledge of the protection industry to the role – which he undertakes alongside the role of MD for Invest.”
Neville Koopowitz, chief executive of Vitality, said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Taurog to managing director of VitalityLife.
“Justin brings with him extensive knowledge of the life business and Vitality, and he will be integral to the future development and growth within the business.”
Taurog’s appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
