Insurer Chubb has appointed Bryce Johns as president of Chubb Life and senior vice president of the group.

Johns will take on the role in April and joins from HSBC where he was most recently global CEO of HSBC Life and insurance partnerships.

He will have executive responsibility for Chubb’s international life insurance business, which is primarily Asia-focused with operations in North and Southeast Asia, including China, as well as in Latin America and the Middle East.

He succeeds Russell Bundschuh who is leaving the company this month to pursue other interests and will report to Chubb Group chairman and CEO Evan Greenberg, and president and chief operating officer John Keogh.

Greenberg said: “We are delighted to welcome Bryce to Chubb at this pivotal time for our growing life insurance business.

“He’s a seasoned insurance executive who brings us significant experience managing and building life businesses globally, particularly in Asia and Latin America.

“Bryce’s portfolio as a successful leader includes forging strategic insurance distribution partnerships, wealth management, bancassurance, launching digitally integrated health and wellness platforms, and mergers and acquisitions negotiations and integration.”

Greenberg also thanked the departing Bundschuh for his contributions in leading and building the business over the past decade. “We wish him the best,” he said.

HSBC announced Johns’ departure late last year with Greg Hingston taking over as global CEO of HSBC Life and Insurance Partnerships on 1 January.
