Medicash sold more than 122,000 new policies in 2021, it’s highest figure in one year, according to data from the health insurer.
The data also revealed the firm started 2022 with a further 33,000 new policies written in the first two months of the year, taking the cash plan provider’s total policyholder base to over 375,000.
According to Health & Protection‘s latest retail cash plans report, Medicash covered 72,477 policyholders with individual health cash plans as of 31 December 2020.
At the time of the publication of the report in December 2021, Medicash revealed its policyholder base numbered more than 330,000 people and the group expected this trend to continue into 2022 and beyond.
The firm introduced the Phio digital physiotherapy app last summer and also relaunched its website and app.
Paul Gambon, sales and marketing director at Medicash, (pictured) said he was proud that the firm’s focus on innovation had resonated with customers.
“With the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) reporting that up to three-quarters of senior leaders have employee wellbeing on their agenda following the pandemic, we’ve seen this increased awareness of employee wellbeing translate into more businesses taking active steps to look after their workforce,” he said.
“This in turn helps with the recruitment and staff retention challenges that many companies face at the moment.”
Sue Weir, chief executive at Medicash, added: “The tremendous period of growth that we’ve seen at Medicash demonstrates how employers value our health plans, and we’re looking forward to seeing this trend continue.”
