Aviva has published a cancer care guide and is adding discounts through its wellbeing service aimed at supporting cancer patients through their private medical insurance (PMI) schemes.
The guide has been produced with Macmillan Cancer Support and includes tips and information to help people living with cancer from initial diagnosis through to treatment and remission.
Macmillan identified helpful topics including talking about cancer with family and friends, managing daily routines, nutrition, adjustments at work and employment rights.
The guide also includes detailed information on cancer and financial considerations, from working out a budget, where to find financial help, government benefits, sorting out financial affairs and pension options.
Discounts and offers
The insurer has added a range of discounts to its GetActive wellbeing offer that could help customers living with cancer or who care for a loved one with cancer.
While they are primarily aimed at supporting cancer patients, the discounts are available to everyone with access to the service.
It said the discounts have been selected to help with daily adjustments that a cancer diagnosis and treatment can require and could help ease some of the additional financial pressures.
The offers include:
- online cosmetic retailers and specialist skincare brands, supportive and protective clothing, including lingerie and swimwear for customers who have had or are going through treatment for breast cancer.
- supporting daily living adjustments through an online retailer with a large range of products including homeware, oral and general hygiene, clothing, and child and baby.
- other retailers include a sleep specialist with bedding products to help support people going through cancer recovery, temperature and anxiety management.
- healthy eating subscriptions, home workout equipment and fitness classes, online yoga, mindfulness classes and a range of self-help audio books.
