The number of people in the UK suffering symptoms associated with long Covid for more than a year has fallen by 46,000, according to official figures.
The findings appear to finally show a wider easing across the country in the numbers of people being affected by long Covid.
Latest Office for National Statistics data revealed that as of 2 July there were 761,000 people with symptoms for at least one year, down from 807,000 in early June – which itself marked a slight decline on early May.
The number of people suffering long Covid symptoms for at least 12 weeks remained unchanged.
However, the number of people suffering long Covid symptoms for more than four weeks also dropped – by 200,000 to 1.8 million over the same period.
Fatigue continued to be the most common symptom reported as part of individuals’ experience of long Covid (54% of those with self-reported long Covid), followed by shortness of breath (31%), loss of smell (23%) and muscle ache (22%).
