Axa Health has seen take-up of its neurodiversity assessment and support service “three or four times” higher than expected and it has been extended to the insurer’s own workforce.

The insurer has also introduced additional support for people though its recruitment process with a special concierge service launched.

Speaking at the Association of British Insurers annual conference, CEO Tracy Garrad explained demand for the neurodiversity assessment service which was launched in October far exceeded expectations.

“We have launched a neurodiversity diagnostic pathway for our corporate clients – it’s had a lot of take-up, three or four times higher than we estimated,” she said.

“We’ve also extended that into our workforce as well.

“And as an employer we’ve introduced a new concierge service as part of our recruitment function where right up front when people are browsing our website they can register a need for support from the concierge service with the recruitment process if they have either physical or neurodivergent needs.”

She added that neurodivergent support was an area that is “really advancing quite quickly”.

Garrad expanded on some of the insurer’s other adaptations to improve its diversity and inclusivity when speaking to Health & Protection in December.
