Mercer officially opened its Macau office this week, which started business earlier in the year.

The office in the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR )is in addition to the company’s offices in other parts of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) including Hong Kong SAR, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

The opening was announced by Richard Roper, president for Mercer Hong Kong and Macau, via his LinkedIn.

“Great day today as we officially open our Mercer Macau office.” Roper said.

The expansion marks Mercer’s fourth office in the GBA as the firm continues to see strong growth and demand for its consulting services and solutions in partnering organisations to meet the health, wealth and career needs of their changing workforce.

“As demand for our services continues to grow both in Macau SAR and the GBA, our new office will build on a strong local presence and provide additional resources to better serve and collaborate with clients in the region,” Roper said.

Mercer Macau also held a forum titled ‘Rethinking Your Total Reward Strategy’ to highlight the company’s expanded services in the territory.

“Great to speak to so many clients looking to address the complex challenges facing employers here,” Roper said.

Macau was colonised by the Portuguese in the 16th century, and became a Chinese SAR in 1999, two years after the former UK colony of nearby Hong Kong returned to China.

With a population of about 640,000 people and a total area of 28 kilometres, Macau has one of the highest population densities in the world – about three times larger than Hong Kong.
